DUTCH OVEN SOURDOUGH BREAD

My attempts at sourdough bread were finally successful! I attended a class the other night and got the help I needed to make a loaf that actually rose the way it is supposed to. It was actually fairly easy to make. You just need the right tools and ingredients and some patience. Thank you to Carrie and Kerry for teaching the class and for LaMyrl for inviting me!! If you want the recipe you can message me. It is not something I can just write on here and expect you to be able to make. It requires a little more technique and some good sourdough starter but it is worth it!!

Things are blooming and growing!!

We have planted a garden and are about to harvest our first swiss chard. I've been picking a few strawberries as well(they are my favorite). Looking forward to some nice veges and fruits this year. Gary has a compost bin and is about to built an additional one. There are blossoms on some of the fruit trees, grapevines, rasberry and the fig tree. There are several rose bushes giving us beautiful flowers. There are California poppies popping up in the front yard along with a couple beautiful Japanese maples, Spanish lavender and ferns.
I love spring, I can't wait for hay fever season to be over then I can be outside to enjoy this more.

Marissa models for baby sale

My daughter Marissa is pictured here in 1984 for the Mervyn's baby sale ad flyer that came in the mail. She was about 10 1/2 months old. That is me in the background pushing the stroller. We traveled to San Francisco for the photo shoot. There were pictures also taken of my son Brian but they chose not to use his as there was a ladder in the picture and they thought that it made it look "unsafe". Many pictures were taken and this was the one that was chosen for the ad. We were paid $150 for the day.

We moved to a smaller home!

We recently downsized to a smaller home. It is 1/2 the size of our previous home. It has been challenging to figure out how to fit our things in it. Needless to say we have been "purging". The home is older so it has some minor repairs and "fix it" jobs. We love the location as it is closer to work for both of us and closer to everything else as well. We really like the front and back yards. The back yard has 7 fruit trees and Gary is busy preparing for a large vegetable garden as well. Sadie is happy as she has lots of room outside to run around and there is a dog park 1 block away.
